The problem with ISO50 is his genius ‘discovery’ of a few style elements such as the Linear Burn paper effect, the paint edges, warm and very retro color combinations, faked imperfections, borders around images in general, etc. I’ve seen it a few times now that people say something is very ‘ISO50-ish’ or something of that kind. It is undoubtedly true that Scott Hansen’s style is rather disctinctive and you can often tell when people have been influenced by him. But sometimes it comes to a point where just using borders for a poster design is considered to be inauthentic. No doubt he deserves credit. But where do you draw the line?
